Ohlaf Olesen was born above a bakery. His parents and grandparents are bakers and Ohlaf wants to be a baker, too. But it takes more to be a true baker. In Ohlaf, The Kringle Baker, young Ohlaf learns everything he can, including the skill, the patience and the dedication it takes to be the very best. Lessons of kindness are demonstrated throughout the story and Ohlaf includes his very own favorite recipe for Danish Sugar Cookies that you can bake with your children.

Ohkaf The Kringle Maker, Excellent Danish Cultural Intro

5

My Father's ancestors all came from Denmark and now that he has passed on, I Am thinking ahead to prepare ways to share this family history with yet unborn Grandchildren. Ohlaf the Kringle Maker is such a sweet (pardon the pun!) and instructive Book about how kringles came to be baked in a circular pattern vs. crossed arms or pretzel style. Most importantly, though, the life lessons included are so vital for the next generation.

Cute Story

I loved the story! I'm Danish and I bought the book for my grandchildren. It will be a great story to read to them and a good way to share with them their heritage! Also another opportunity to bake with them because of the recipe at the end of the story!

Gave the book to my young nieces along with the Pecan Kringle. They are just learning to bake with their mom and enjoyed the book and Kringle!
